Two New Gift of Time Families
The Andrew and Abby Szott Foundation is once again honored to grant our ninth and tenth families the Gift of Time. It was with great pleasure and gratitude that the Foundation was able to give $13,000 to a family from Savage, MN who wishes to remain anonymous for the time being. Their 12 year-old-son was diagnosed with a brain tumor in August 2008. The family has enjoyed a lovely Make-a-Wish family trip to Puerto Rico. His mother was able to stay at home with he and his two siblings when they were smaller, and now his father will be blessed to have time at home with the children.
We were also honored to award the Lynell Gusta with $6,000. Lynell’s son, Grant McGarry, was diagnosed with osteosarcoma in May of 2007. He began his chemotherapy in September of that year and finished it in March 2008. Grant remained cancer free until January 2009, at which time it had metastasized to both lungs. Grant is facing difficult medical challenges at this time, but he recently enjoyed celebrating his twelfth birthday with many friends and family. Please follow Grant’s story on his caringbridge site at www.caringbridge.org/visit/grantmcgarry.
The Andrew and Abby Szott Foundations wishes both of our new families faith, endurance, courage, and hope (FECH). As we do for all of our Gift of Time children, we will pray for total healing from the top of these children’s heads to the bottom of their feet.
Many blessings to all of our Szott Foundation friends. We hope to see many of you at one or all three of our July fundraisers. First of all Emmy Garner has added a twist to the third annual Sand Volleybowl Benefit on Saturday July 25. Notice the name. You now may register as a volleyball player or as a bowler.
Join us the following Friday, July 31, as we kick-off a weekend of Szott Foundation fun with our third annual Tournament for Time golf event at Monticello Golf Club on Friday and our second annual Homerun for Time on Saturday, August 1, where the MN Twins take on the Los Angeles Angels. You can learn more about all three events and how to register by visiting us at www.szottfoundation.org and clicking on the Fundraisers link.

My 7 year old son Justin was diagnosed with Ewing sarcoma on March 09 and he under went chemo. and radiation, done with that on October 09 and unfortunately his cancer is back with an aggressive way that spread to his spine, brain and lungs. Unfortunately this time Justin can`t be treated and his condition is terminal with maybe not much time left. He will be lucky if he can see his grand parents who live overseas. We could not pay for their tickets because they`re expensive. Will be very appreciative if you can grant Justin and us this wish. I am currently not working staying home to care for Justin. Justin is also autistic but he is very special boy. Thanks

i’m not sure if this is where to leave this message. i can”t seem to get many answers about your foundation for the social worker at the hospital. my brother’s 8 month old son was diagnosed with a rare brain cancer in the stem in the center of the brain. My brother and his wife have another child that is 3 years old. they bothe have always worked. Baby was fine until april 16,2010 when he just started acting “funny” eyes, throwing up, etc. That’s when they got the bad news. She had to quit work right then and stay and the hospital now stop. They have private ins. but the part ins has is not paying is staggering. now with no income from her my brother is trying to work, pay house and other bills and take care of their 3 year old while she will be a hospital in TN for 6 mos. he goes up to TN about every 3 weeks. i don’t know if you can help or tell me where to go to try to get them help. we are still in shock the baby was fine for 7 months then in friday afternoon our lives have changed for ever. Thank you for reading this. my phone # is 803-378-4170. We live in Cordova, South Carolina. even if u can’t help please pray for my nephew and my brother and his wife. They are trusting in God!!!! Their hearts are heavy!!!!
