Shannon Geiger (Kelly) 2009
The 2009 Abby Szott Courage Award was presented posthumously to Shannon Geiger (Kelly). Shannon passed away on July 10, 2008 from complications arising from Cystic Fibrosis. Pictured accepting the award is Shannon’s husband, Andy and Shannon’s parents, John and Mary Ann Kelly of Eagan, Minnesota.
Shannon was a graduate of Burnsville High School and the College of St. Thomas. She participated in gymnastics during high school as well as at TAGS Gymnastics. Shannon also enjoyed karate, and was awarded an honorary black belt during her final hospital stay this year. In class, she had attained brown-belt status. Shannon was active as a volunteer with various organizations such as Meals on Wheels, and Feed My Starving Children. She also participated in various church groups, such as A Community Caring for Life.
Shannon was an amazing woman and is very much loved and missed by family and friends.
